Women Owned Small Business Month

October is women owned small business month, and what better way to celebrate than to highlight some of our local area businesses owned and operated by our family, friends, and neighbors! From hair salons to photographers, custom sewing to clothing boutiques, there is a fabulous women-owned business ready and willing to help you. Columbia Auto Repair and Sales will be highlighting some of the local businesses in The Dalles and surrounding areas, both here on this page, as well as on our social media accounts at Facebook and Instagram. 

Women entrepreneurship is a rapidly growing industry across the nation, featuring women from all walks of life. From Business.com, in 2019, 28% of small businesses were owned by women. By 2021, that percentage had increased to 49%! Also from a Business.com article from Sept. 7, 2022, “According to the National Women’s Business Council, in 2012, there were 9.9 million women-owned businesses in the United States. These companies brought in an impressive revenue of $233.2 billion. Of the women-owned businesses with employees, receipts were $1.4 trillion.”

Support entrepreneurs and small businesses, for every dollar you spend locally stays in that community, supporting other small businesses, schools, and community events and organizations.
